FOUNDATION - 100 DAYS OF SCHOOL
Dear Parents, Guardians and Carers,
I would like to thank all those families that took up the opportunity for a Parent/Teacher Interview with your child’s teacher last Tuesday or Thursday. Our Term 3 Parent/Teacher Interviews are an opportunity to discuss in greater depth how your child has progressed academically and socially throughout the year, following on from the Semester One school reports, which were sent home at the end of Term 2. The feedback from the teachers was that the interviews went well and that it was a great opportunity to catch up with you all. St Patrick’s values the relationship between itself and our families and knows that a strong partnership leads to improved student outcomes.
"No matter how skilled professionals are, or how loving parents are, each cannot achieve alone what the two parties, working hand in hand, can accomplish together.”
(Peterson and Cooper, in Sheridan 2003).
Crazy Hair Day
On Monday, St Patrick’s participated in Crazy Hair Day. Whilst being a fun and exciting day for the students, the day also raises much needed money and awareness for cystic fibrosis. I would like to thank those that got involved in the day with their weird and wacky hair styles. Students will remember days like this for a long time and I thank you for your support.
Lions Club Public Speaking
On Tuesday, our Year 3, 4, 5 and 6 students had the opportunity to participate in the Lions Club Public Speaking Competition. The Year 3/4 students had to present a 3-minute speech on their favourite book character, whist the Year 5/6 students had to interview an inspirational person and present a speech about them. Approximately 30 students across 3-6 participated in the competition. The students all did an amazing job and should be proud of their efforts.
The Year 3/4 winner, as judged by two Lions Club members and one staff member was Jemma Pattison, whilst the Year 5/6 winner was William Longmuir. Jemma and William will now represent St Patrick’s and the Stratford Lions Club at the next stage of the competition. We wish Jemma and Will all the best!
Athletics Carnival
On Thursday, we had our Annual St Patrick’s Athletics Carnival. We were blessed with fabulous weather, which ensured that the day was a huge success. The Year 2-6 students participated in many athletic events, including 100m, 200m, 800m, hurdles, long jump, triple jump, high jump, discus and shotput. Our Foundation and Year 1 students also participated in a modified program during the afternoon session. We were fortunate to have so many Catholic College Sale students and parents as helpers to support at events and with groups of students. Days like this wouldn’t run as smoothly without this support, so we really do appreciate it. A more in-depth report about the Athletics Carnival will be included in our next newsletter.
Kind regards,
Joel

SPORT NEWS
I was so incredibly proud of our kids last Friday competing at the Wellington Division Football Carnival. Their sportsmanship was second to none. On the bus on the way home, I told them, that's what I was most proud of all day. To play every single game with no interchange, a player short and an injured player in the grand final, just showed the other schools what St Patrick's is made of!
