Dear Parent, Guardians and Carers,
We’ve got a few big weeks coming up at St Patrick’s with our Years 3-6 camps program in full swing. Camps provide many opportunities for students to learn resilience, respect, team building and leadership skills, whilst also developing their personal and social skills away from the school environment.
Tomorrow, Friday 25th October, our Year 3/4 students have their Activity Day at Coonawarra Farm Resort. This will be a full day of fun and adventure with the students leaving St Patrick’s at 7:45am and returning at approximately 7.00pm. Throughout the day, the students will participate in many activities, including, the flying fox, giant swing, high ropes course, labyrinth, archery and hut building.
Next week, our Year 6 students have their camp at Camp Coolamatong from Wednesday 30th October to Friday 1st November. Camp Coolamatong is a new camp of the St Patrick’s program, and it will be a great opportunity for our Year 6 students to experience something new and different. Throughout the camp, the students will participate in activities, such as, archery, low ropes course, bike orienteering, climbing and abseiling, survivor course, night walk, canoeing and a boat ride.
The following week, our Year 5 students will attend camp at Karoonda Park from Wednesday 6th to Friday 8th November. Karoonda Park is another adventure camp where the students experience some action-packed activities, including, horse riding, abseiling and white-water rafting.
These camp experiences will provide many highlights for the students, and we look forward to hearing many great stories from their adventures.
Just a reminder to parents, that all your child’s Contact Details, Medical Information and all other relevant information is updated on PAM.
School-led Parish Mass
On Sunday, students from St Patrick’s led the Parish mass at St Patrick’s Church. It was great to see a few families support the mass and the children did a great job of doing the readings and offertory procession and leading the singing. After mass, we had a shared morning tea, with some delicious treats on offer. I would like to thank those families that attended and supported the event and encourage more families to attend when we lead another Parish mass during 2025.
Hoop Time Basketball Success
The St Patrick’s Primary School Year 3/4 Future Stars Hoop Time Basketball Team recently competed in the Gippsland Region Finals at the Latrobe Regional Sporting Complex in Traralgon. The team, made up of, Steele Baxter, Indie Craddock, Hunter Kerton, Stella Marsden, Keeley Martin, Jack Spencer and Cody Williams played amazing basketball throughout the day, to finish undefeated after the preliminary rounds, meaning that they progressed through to the final. In the final, they once again played amazing team basketball, leading from start to finish to run out winners 25-12. Coach, Amy Armstrong, was really proud of their efforts throughout the day. The team will now progress to the State Hoop Time Finals in Melbourne later in the term.
St Patrick’s also has two Year 5/6 teams competing in the Gippsland Region Finals tomorrow, so we look forward to hearing how they go.
Melbourne Cup Week
Monday 4th November is a school closure day, with students and staff not attending school on this day. Tuesday 5th November is the Melbourne Cup Public Holiday so St Patrick’s will also be closed on this day. I hope that you can use this 4-day weekend to get away together as a family and hopefully enjoy some nice weather.
Tuckshop/Lunch Orders
Thank you to everyone who got their lunch orders in by the cut-off date of Tuesday 22nd October. I know that the students are really looking forward to these lunch orders from Wa-De-Lock and the feedback from the parents regarding the process and the menu has been positive. Lunch orders will be picked up and delivered to the classrooms, next Tuesday 29th October.
Kind regards,
Joel

At St Patrick’s we have a standard of uniform of which the members of our school community can be justifiably proud. It is an expectation of parents and students that the correct uniform is worn.
Jewellery is not permitted except for small sleepers and studs. Extreme hair styles and hair colouring is not permitted. Long hair must be tied back off the face in school band colours.
Sport Uniform to be worn on PE/sport days only: Monday and Wednesday
If your child is out of uniform without a note from parents, a uniform warning note will go home with your child.
- REMINDER - TERM 4 - Students are to wear their school hat during outside play
Thank-you for your co-operation.
What's Happening at St Patrick's
In STEM, Junior classes have made paper planes this week. They have discussed what a plane needs to glide in the air. Students shared their ideas and made a paper plane without any instructions. Students quickly realised they needed help from their peers and shared ideas and skills. The fun part was flying them in the classroom and making alterations.
Trainings are free and will be run on Mondays and Thursdays from 4pm to 5:30pm. (There may be a small fee for state and interstate competitions). Trainings will be held @ boisdale Street near the Maffra Highschool.
Training will be kickstart on Monday the 28th October 2024.
