Dear Parents, Guardians and Carers,

Welcome back to the start of Term 3. I hope that you all enjoyed the holidays and were able to spend some quality time together as a family.

Sporting News

Yesterday, Max Bartlett and Charlie McKinley competed in the State Cross Country event. Both Max and Charlie have progressed through our St Patrick’s cross country event, the Heyfield and District, Wellington Division and Gippsland Region cross country events to make it to the State Final. This is a huge achievement and one that we are really proud of the boys for achieving. Yesterday, Max finished 82 in the 11 and Under Boys event, whilst Charlie finished 89^th in the 10 and Under Boys event.

Today, our 5/6 footballers competed in the second stage of the Winter Sports competition, after winning their way through the Heyfield and District competition. Results from today will be in our next newsletter.

Parent/Teacher Interviews and PSG Meetings

Next Tuesday and Thursday, we have Parent/Teacher Interviews. These meetings are a great opportunity for students, parents and teachers to discuss what they have achieved throughout Semester One. The parent/teacher interviews are also a great opportunity to discuss some of the areas for improvement and the next steps in your child’s learning. Parents/Teacher interviews can be booked via PAM.

For those students with additional needs, PSG meetings will be held on Tuesday 6^th and Wednesday 7^th August. These meetings can also be booked via PAM. Those students that require a PSG, do not require a parent/teacher interview.

Baptism for School Age Children

Next Wednesday 24^th July, there is a Parent Information Night for those that are interested in having their child/ren baptised. The information night will be held at the Cathedral in Sale at 6pm.

Crazy Hair Day

On Monday 29^th July we will be celebrating Crazy Hair Day. Crazy Hair Day is about raising awareness and money for cystic fibrosis. All students are encouraged to come with crazy hair on this day for a gold coin donation. We look forward to seeing some weird and wonderful hairstyles!

We have many other events happening throughout the term including Hooptime Basketball, our St Patrick’s Athletics Carnival, the Lions Club Public Speaking Competition, the St Patrick’s Olympics, the National Day Against Bullying and a Father’s Day afternoon. Please keep your eye out for more information on these in the coming weeks.

There is a range of payment options at St. Patrick’s. However, the preferred method of payment for families is by direct debit.

Families on direct debit may need an adjustment to their payment. Please check your school fee statement for your current balance.

If paying by instalment, please see dates listed below:

2nd Instalment due: Friday 26th July 2024

3rd Instalment due: Friday 25th October 2024

Thank-you to families who have been prompt with their payments.

School Fee Statements are emailed on the first of every month. Please contact the school office if you are not receiving your school fee statement.

The key thing to remember when it comes to meeting payment commitments is to keep the school informed if anything changes. If at any time you have a concern about school fees and levies, please contact the school office to discuss the issue.

Children can be vulnerable road users and all adults are reminded to observe all road rules and take care around the school.

Children are small and can be unpredictable. It is up to us

as adults to look out for the children.

Park in the right place

No standing zones and parking zones are there for everyone’s safety. Please park in the correct zones.

Slow Down

The zone around St. Patrick’s (although not signed) is 40 km hour – this is the law.

And go easy on the u-turns near the school!

Stay OFF Mobile Phones

It is illegal to drive while using a mobile phone. It also puts the children’s safety at risk if you aren’t paying attention.

STEM NEWS

Year 3 /4 students were challenged in the last lesson of Term 2.

The challenge was to build a newspaper tower to hold a basketball for 30 seconds, using only sticky tape and newspaper.

Look at what the students were able to create in a strict time limit!

Well done Grade 3/4 your team work was amazing! Great job!

Students in Grade Foundation to Two will begin the term exploring their senses.

The activities the students will explore will help them learn more about their senses. I look forward to sharing their discoveries with you.

Students in Grade 3 to 6, will be exploring electrical circuits. Students will begin making simple circuits to be able to program their own controller. I look forward to sharing their learning and discoveries with families this term.

I hope the students all come home excited and willing to share their learning experiences with you at home.
