Dear Parents, Guardians and Carers,
This year we have been implementing and engaging in various activities to foster a supportive and nurturing environment at St Patrick’s. One of the key frameworks we are focusing on this year is our Whole School Approach to Positive Behaviour Support (WSAPBS).
What is Positive Behaviour Support?
Positive Behaviour Support is a proactive approach to establishing the behavioural supports needed for all students at school to achieve social, emotional, and academic success. It involves teaching and reinforcing positive behaviours, and creating a consistent and positive school environment.
The WSAPBS model provides a structure and process for school communities to establish and maintain a positive social culture.
School Wide Expectations
The WSAPBS framework is provided to support school members (Students, Staff, Families) in following and maintaining our school values. These values are presented below:
SAFE:
At St Patrick’s we will behave in a manner that ensures the safety and wellbeing of all members of our school community.
RESPECTFUL:
At St Patrick’s we will treat all members and belongings of our school community with respect.
RESPONSIBLE: At St Patrick’s we will act in a responsible manner that allows everyone and everything in our school community to thrive.
Key Components of WSAPBS at St Patrick's:
- Clear Expectations
- Teaching Positive Behaviours
- Consistent Reinforcement
- Whole School Involvement
- Celebrating Success
The WSAPBS framework is embedded to ensure that St Patrick's remains a place where every student feels supported, respected, and safe at school.
Thank you for your continued support and partnership.
Kind Regards,
Gabbi.
Children can be vulnerable road users and all adults are reminded to observe all road rules and take care around the school.
Look - Be vigilant Children are small and can be unpredictable. It is up to us as adults to look out for the children. |
Park in the right place No standing zones and parking zones are there for everyone’s safety. Please park in the correct zones. |
Slow Down The zone around St. Patrick’s (although not signed) is 40 km hour – this is the law. And go easy on the u-turns near the school! |
Stay OFF Mobile Phones It is illegal to drive while using a mobile phone. It also puts the children’s safety at risk if you aren’t paying attention. |
Use the crossing & Give way to pedestrians |
Take Your Time Please don't rush! |
For the safety of all students and pedestrians - Pick up and drop off is Dixon Street and Blackburn Street.
Do not use Merrick St.
Thank-you for your co-operation.
At St Patrick’s we have a standard of uniform of which the members of our school community can be justifiably proud. It is an expectation of parents and students that the correct uniform is worn.
Jewellery is not permitted except for small sleepers and studs. Extreme hair styles and hair colouring is not permitted. Long hair must be tied back off the face in school band colours.
Sport Uniform to be worn on PE/sport days only: Monday and Wednesday
If your child is out of uniform without a note from parents, a uniform warning note will go home with your child.
EVERYDAY COUNTS
Going to school every day is crucial for a child’s success at school. Attendance habits can be set early, from the first year of schooling and followed through primary and secondary education. Regular absence does impact on a child’s learning and relationships; therefore, St Patrick’s promotes the importance of consistent attendance.
ABSENCES
Parents are required to notify the school of any absence, which may occur during the school year. The preferred method for notifying your child’s absence is via the PAM. Notification of the absence is a legal requirement and also a courtesy.
At 9.30am, any unexplained absence will result in an SMS message being sent to the parents/guardians. If no response has been received by 10am, the office will ring parents first, then emergency contacts to confirm the reason for the absence.
