Dear Parents, Guardians and Carers,
What a start we have had to Term 4! We’ve gone from navigating bushfires and a school closure day on Tuesday, to being on flood watch by Wednesday.
I would like to thank all our families for their support, especially with the school closure on Tuesday, due to the Bushfire Emergency Warning. I understand that it is not easy making arrangements for children at such short notice. Thankfully, from a school perspective, the worst looks to be behind us for the moment. We are fully aware that some of our families have been impacted by the bushfires and the floods, so please reach out if we can help in any way.
Term 4 is always a busy one and this term doesn’t look like it will be the exception. We have many fun and exciting things happening throughout the term, beginning with the School Disco this evening. Thank you to the Parents and Friends committee for organising this event and to all those students and families that have bought tickets, it will be a great night.
Other important events occurring throughout the term include:
Grade 5/6 Lawn Bowls (Friday, 6th ,13th , 20th ,and 27th October and 3rd November)

SUPER HERO DRESS UP DAY
Nathan Gillespie, one of our Grade 4 students, has an extremely rare tumour diagnosis. When one of our lovely St Patrick’s families heard of Nathan’s diagnosis, they mentioned that there was a man, Captain Australia, that was walking around Australia to raise awareness and money for the Kids Cancer Project and he could possibly visit Nathan and all the students of St Patrick’s whilst on his walk.
After getting into contact with Captain Australia, he said that he would be delighted to visit Nathan and the school, as a part of his ‘Big Lap’. On Thursday 19th October, Captain Australia will be walking into Stratford and will be visiting St Patrick’s. To support Nathan, Captain Australia and the Kids Cancer Project, St Patrick’s will be having a Super Hero Dress up Day on this day. All students are encouraged to dress up as a Super Hero for a gold coin donation on this day.
At 2:30pm on this day, we will also have a whole school assembly with Captain Australia, where he will talk to the students about his journey and answer questions from the students. Parents are welcome to attend this assembly.
Whilst on his Big Lap, Captain Australia has been sending Nathan postcards from some of the beautiful places that he has walked through. As you can see from the photo below, Nathan was very happy to receive his first postcard. Nathan was also lucky enough to make his Facebook page, Captain Australia’s BIG LAP.
We look forward to this day and being able to meet Captain Australia, whilst creating a truly memorable moment for Nathan.
Kind regards,
Joel
