PRINCIPAL'S MESSAGE
Dear Parents, Guardians and Carers,
Welcome back to the start of Term 4. I can’t believe how quickly the year has gone.
As you have probably all seen or heard, the new building project started over the holidays. Our builders, Eastern Victorian Construction Group (EVCG), have begun preparing the site by demolishing the existing buildings and will continue doing this throughout the coming week. This is a very exciting time for the school and whilst I’m sure that there will be a few hiccups along the way, it will be all worth it in the long run. In 12-14 months’, we will have a state-of-the-art building that will provide for the increasing student and staff numbers. It will be great seeing the progress for the remainder of this term and into next year.

St Patrick’s School Priorities Puzzle
At St Patrick’s we strive to provide a quality school environment and education for all students. Our core school priorities are centred around an ‘Accelerated Growth for all Students’. Essentially, what this means is that no matter the students starting point, we want them to have at least 12 months educational growth every year that they are at St Patrick’s. We strive to achieve this by having a deep knowledge of the curriculum; providing expert teacher practice; creating a safe, respectful and responsible school environment; working collaboratively together; and strengthening the Catholic Identity of the school. The puzzle below is a visual representation of these core school priorities.
Lions Club Public Speaking Competition
Will Longmuir will compete in the next stage of the Lions Club Public Speaking Competition on Sunday 12th October. This is the third year in a row that Will has represented the school in this competition, and we look forward to hearing how he goes. Will is very passionate about this competition and has worked extremely hard to achieve such great results.
Sports Update
This Wednesday, ten students will represent the school at the Gippsland Region Athletics event in Newborough. These ten students have done exceptionally well, progressing through three stages of competition already. We look forward to hearing how they go and hope that we may have a representative or two at the State Athletics Final, later in the year.
On Friday, our Year 3/4 Boys Hoop Time team will compete in the Gippsland Region finals. We wish the boys all the best and know that they will represent our school with pride. Good luck!
Also on Friday, our Year 5/6 students will compete in the Heyfield and District Cricket Blast Gala Day. This is the first stage of competition, with some competitive teams afforded the opportunity to progress to the next stage. For those not participating in the competitive division, this will be a fun day out where they can try out the game of cricket.
Next Wednesday 22nd October, one of our Lawn Bowls teams will compete at the Gippsland Region Bowls Competition in Traralgon. This is the second year in a row that we have competed in this event, and it is a great opportunity for the students to participate in a less mainstream sport.
P&F Meeting
On Thursday we had a P&F meeting. During the meeting we planned for the Colour Run, which is scheduled for Friday 28th November. This has been a huge success for the past two years and we look forward to another successful events this year. P&F planning is also underway for our Annual Christmas Raffle and Yearbook. The P&F group do an amazing job at coordinating these fun events for our school community. If you are interested in being a part of the P&F, please contact the office.
Term 4 will be a busy term, so please check the school calendar and place the events in your diary.
Kind regards,
Joel
